ERP

LTA’s Definition of ERP:

“Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) is an electronic system of road pricing based on a pay-as-you-use principle. It is designed to be a fair system as motorists are charged when they use the road during peak hours.

LTA reviews the traffic conditions on the expressways and roads, where the ERP system is in operation, on a quarterly basis and during the June and December school holidays.

After the review, the ERP rates would then be adjusted where necessary to minimise congestion on the roads. ERP has been effective in maintaining an optimal speed range of 45 to 65 km/h for expressways and 20 to 30 km/h for arterial roads.”

This is crap!!! The traffic congestions are getting from bad to worse! It took me 55mins to get to work today and i still have to pay a $5 for ERP charges. I thought ERP is to help with congestion of the roads? Crap! There are ERPs on almost every expressway and i seriously dont see the minimisation of the congestion on any of the expressways except for CTE coz they are charging $5.00 or $6 for just one gantry!?!?!?

The optimal speed range of expressway are 45 to 65 km/h? No, its 10 to 20 km/h + never ending brakes!

Sigh, can i take an airplane / heli to work!!!!!

I share your frustration and outrage. LTA should review its toll rates weekly not quarterly. LTA is a cash cow for the government.
